Coconut is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats help increase the healthy cholesterol (known as HDL cholesterol) in our body. They also help convert the LDL “harmful” cholesterol into good cholesterols. Increased HDL in the body will help promote heart health and lower the risk of heart disease and blood circulation.


Coconut sweets are very common in India as they are easy to make, delicious and beautiful. Let's see what do we need to make delicious vegan coconut burfi.

What do you need?


1 Fresh Coconut

1 Bowl of coconut powder

1 bowl of sugar

2 tablespoons of vegan butter

1 tin coconut milk

1 small bowl of broken cashews, pistachios, cardamoms, almonds or any dry fruits of your choice to decorate and give extra flavour.

1 Big Pan


Step by Step Process to make Coconut Barfi


Grate the fresh coconut as fine as you can.


Add vegan butter to the pan place it on low heat and allow it to melt. Try to spread it the butter all around in the pan. Now add coconut powder, grated coconut, coconut milk and sugar and stir them gently on very low heat for 3-5 minutes to let it all mix together. Make sure you not cooking it too much as that will burn the coconut and you will lose all the goodness and flavours. If it is too dry, you can add more coconut milk.


Take a big tray and add melted vegan butter on the surface. Now gently spread your mix on this tray and make it flat thick layer. Decorate this with all your dry fruits of your choice and let it cool down. Leave this in the fridge for 2-3 hours.


Use a knife to cut square, rectangle or shape of your choice to make burfi's.
